Leading Chinese VR Startup Pico Raised $24.7M in Series A funding round
Leading Chinese VR manufacturer Pico Interactive raised RMB 167.5 million [$24.7M] in Series A funding round co-led by GF Qianhe and GF Xinde Investment, with additional participation from Jufeng S&T Venture Investment and others.
The Beijing-based VR Startup focus on standalone VR, and launched their first headset Pico Neo DK in 2016 based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 platform. Pico Goblin, announced in May. 2017, had became the most widely sold standalone VR headset in 2017 according to IDC. And at the end of 2017, Pico Interactive launched Pico Neo with both 6-DoF head-tracking and 6-DoF Controller tracking.
Pico CEO Henry Zhou said that “Pico will keep focusing on all-in-one VR and will also increase its investment in 3D sensing (TOF) and AR technologies in the near future. In the future, Pico hopes to become a portal-level AI vision company through the layout of VR+AR+TOF technology and products.”
Except VR, Pico are also working on AR product. Pico said that its AR products based on Snapdragon XR1 platform will be available in 2019.
